This is a little idea I had while participating in one of my favorite Twitter writing community pastimes: #1LineWed.
If you aren’t familiar with #1LineWed, let me give you a quick and dirty summary. Every Wednesday on Twitter, there is a theme tweeted (just search #1linewed theme on Twitter and look at the most recent tweets) and writers from all over search their WIPs for this theme and tweet one line with the #1linewed tag. Tada.
Well, what we want to do here is expand a little on that with Write-In Wednesdays. I of all people know how hard it is to stay within one measly line when sharing my work. I also know the heartache of having to sacrifice grammar or punctuation (eek!) in order to squeeze your line into the 140 character limit.
Well, here we are going to give you a little more wriggle room.
On Wednesdays, I charge you to hop onto Twitter and find the day’s #1LineWed theme, then use it to select 1-2 paragraphs of a WIP and email it to email@example.com. We will select our favorites to post here on the following Wednesday! Then you can brag and share it with your friends and family, or tweet the link on your Twitter. Show off your skills!
Here are the guidelines:
- 1-2 paragraphs MAX.
- Please keep within the theme. Your submission doesn’t have to include the exact word of the theme, but it must at least give us a sense of the theme.
- No explicit content. We don’t want to hear the mechanics. It can be suggestive, but full-out erotica will not be published.
- Include your name, twitter handle, and blog/website if you have them so readers can connect with you!
Today’s (6/14/17) #1LineWed theme is: Sorrow. Every week that I post a Write-In Wednesday, I will include the newest theme for submissions for the following week.
